Our book donation bins can be placed at libraries, schools, nonprofits, community centers, municipal buildings, transfer and recycling centers, as well as convenience stores, gas stations, and other businesses throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.

We also accept CDs, DVDs, and video games in their cases.

Bay State Book Company offers a variety of collection options for libraries, including outdoor book donation bins, indoor book bins, laundry carts, and library carts. Pickups can be scheduled regularly or arranged on an as-needed basis, making it easy to manage donations, surplus materials, and post-weeding collections.

Our minimum for a home pickup is 200 books, or approximately eight boxes. This ensures that pickups are efficient and cost-effective while helping you responsibly recycle or donate your books. If you don’t have enough books for a home pickup, you can always use one of our conveniently located book drop boxes to donate your books.

To make pickup easy, please place all books outside at ground level, ideally in a covered spot. Books may be kept in boxes or containers for pickup; however, please note that our drivers will empty them during pick up and leave the boxes behind for you to recycle or reuse.

Donated books are either sent to various literacy initiatives, resold, or, if they are in unusable condition, responsibly recycled. This process helps extend the life of books, supports reading programs in communities, and ensures that materials that cannot be reused are handled in an environmentally responsible way.

No. Bay State Book Company is a for-profit company; however, we support various literacy initiatives, Friends of the Library groups, and other education-focused organizations. Donations made to Bay State Book Company are not tax-deductible.
